About Star Haven Resort

SHR, short for Star Haven Resort, is a Super Mario Brothers fansite created on April 22, 2004. Before then, it was a small website that featured stuff about me. That made its official debut sometime around June 2002, for a computer class project. Nowadays, it is a site on all things Mario, featuring fanworks, reviews, and blogs. As for the name, I chose this name because Paper Mario is one of my favorite games of all time, plus this was actually a part of a Mario chat block at Nintendo.com Forums sometime around March, or April, 2004 (I'm not sure which). However, that place and the forums are both gone.

I love Super Mario Brothers, though I am a huge fan of Luigi more than Mario (mainly because I was always second-player when playing the Mario games). I love the Mario game series. It has been this way since I played Super Mario Brothers at age 5. For a long, long time I always wanted to make a Mario fansite, but I was very shy and very unmotivated to get into my creative side. Eventually, I got up my courage and built it just to show everyone how much of a Mario fan I am. I am dedicated to make an awesome Mario fansite like Super Mario Brothers Headquarters, Lemmy's Land, or The Mushroom Kingdom.

Oh, my, where are my manners? I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Ani Long (not my real name by the way). Anyway, as I mentioned previously, I am a Mario fan, although I do like other things (i.e., anime, other video games, art, website building). My favorite Mario game is Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars on the SNES. As for best Mario characters, I have a couple on my list: Peach, Rosalina, Luigi, Geno, Kamek, Dimentio...

The truth is I have not played all the games. Stuff like financial difficulties or the rarities of some games (i.e., Mario Hotel) have stopped me from playing all of them. Star Haven Resort is actually a site full of opinions. If you want information on all the Mario games, I suggest either The Mushroom Kingdom or Mario Wikipedia.

I have been practicing HTML for a long time, since I published my first webpage. Since 2003, it was a very simple website with basic HTML and eventually I worked with other use of web-based programming languages from Javascript to CSS. The first design was pretty much a light blue background with pictures, only the star spirits were served as menus. I learned more web-based programming languages in the Fall 2005 semester at college. From June, 2008 to September, 2008, it was taken down, unaware of making its triumphant return with technology never fallen on this site (i.e., PHP, RSS feed)!
